Egg nog is a traditional holiday beverage that many enjoy, but it is very high in calories. Dr. Bordenave says that it’s okay to enjoy a serving or two, but make sure you pass up the rum.
Dr. Bordenave shares a tip to getting a nice, juicy turkey breast: cook it upside down. An hour prior to it being done, turn it over so it can brown. The juices from the darker meat trickle down and keep the breast moist – no need for gravy.
Dr. Bordenave tells us that it is okay to overindulge a little during the holidays, however, everything should be approached in moderation. Take only half of the serving you want to put on your plate. You can take a little of everything, be sated, and not overeat.
Thanksgiving is done but there are many temptations ahead. Before you go out and indulge, Dr. Bordenave suggests eating a snack before going to parties. This way you won’t be as inclined to overeat sweets and heavy foods.
